Become a Resident and Volunteer Firefighter in Southern Rhode Island!

Looking for housing and a way to serve your community?

Dunn's Corners Fire Department (DCFD) is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Resident Firefighter. This unique opportunity offers housing at the station and the chance to make a real difference in Southern Rhode Island.

Resident Benefits:
• Free housing at Station #2 located in Charlestown, RI in exchange for volunteer service to our community
• Comprehensive firefighter and driver training provided
• Join a welcoming, dedicated team and gain invaluable experience


Resident Requirements:
1. Become a Volunteer Member of DCFD
-Commit to active participation and support for the community
2. Complete Fire Engine Driver Training within 6 Months
-Training and certification as a fire engine driver provided by DCFD
3. Hold a Valid Driver’s License
4. Obtain CPR & AED Certification
-Certification assistance available if needed
5. Minimum of 20 Documented Hours Per Month
-Participate in station duties, special projects, or maintenance activities
6. 4 Hours of Training Per Month
-Attend monthly training sessions to develop firefighting skills and readiness
7. Resident firefighters are expected to respond to emergency calls whenever available and to reside at the station most of the week (4-5 nights) to maintain readiness. Each firefighter will be equipped with a radio pager and/or a mobile response app to stay connected and respond promptly, even when off-site.
